There's nothing like a game 7, is there? The do-or-die attitude fills all players, and amazing performances are sure to come out.
And, if the game 7 involves the Seattle Monarchs, the amazing performance is likely to be by a player on that team. So it was for the Monarchs against the upstart Hickory Huskers, as Bruno Talamantez pitched a 3-hitter as the Monarchs prevailed, coming back from a 3-1 series deficit to win game 7 6-1.
Juan Gomez homered and drove in three runs, while Norman Kuhn drove in a pair with a home run, providing all of the offense the Monarchs needed.
So, here we are: The Monarchs against the Brooklyn Wolves in the Cecil Cup. Congrats to both Mack and Zev for their excellent seasons so far, but we're far from done.
Game 1 is on Saturday night!
Hmmm... Brooklyn vs. Seattle in a playoff series. Wait, stop me if you've heard this one before... :)

In fairness, Zev, Frank has a better right to gripe. He has made the playoffs five times now. He has faced Seattle in the first round five times. And, well, you can guess the rest.
ReplyDeleteFrank, congrats on an outstanding season. I'm trying to figure it out, but I think that Hickory had the greatest year-to-year improvement in SDMB OOTP history. Going from the worst record in the league last year to 90 wins and the playoffs this year? That's really an amazing turnaround.
grats all
