This may be the first trade I've ever made where I'm happy to see that the guy I traded is off to a good start. Good luck in Hickory, Mr. Mudge. (God, I'm such a sentimental wuss about a bunch of electrons.)
Will the next sim go all the way to August 1? If so, does that mean this is the final chance to make trades?
Yikes, that's a heck of a contract you gave Valdes, Nate... can't wait to see what you have to do to re-sign Hukill.
Took 3 out of 5 against Nate this sim - that's the first time I've done well against him. One heck of a game on July 9th - Okane goes 8 innings, Diehl 9, and we head into extra innings tied at 2. Nothing till the 14th, when Suarez puts River Cities ahead with a home run leading off the 14th. Down to my last out in the bottom of the 14th with runners on 1st and 2nd, Bilbrey and Stelly work walks off of Justin Miller to force in the tying run. In the bottom of the 17th, on the second pitch that Jefferson Theriault (love that name!) throws, Mohammad "Bingo" Stelly hits a home run to end it. Chester Cohen put up the golden frilly sombrero with flashing lights (0 for 8 with 3 strikeouts).
Oh, just 1 this week, Michael. You lost Fuentes for 1-2 weeks with a tender elbow.
As for the contract for Valdes honestly, what choice do I have? I have a 25 year old right fielder who has these ratings:
CON 76 GAP 69 POW 100 EYE 61 STL 71 BAS 83
Who has averaged this line per 162 games for his career:
AVG .301 HR 38 RBI 130 OBP .373 SLG .561 OPS .934
At 25 he has 220 HR and 745 RBI. What's not to love? I essentially have Alex Rodriguez whom the fans love (he's rated Extremely Popular). Toss in the World Series Ring and an MVP Award at age 24 and he looks good.
I've locked him up at least through his 28 year as the last year is mutual option. I did give him a no-trade clause, though, and he gets an extra $2MM for winning the MVP.
Still, worth it. And my salary is STILL predicted to have a payroll of $79.3MM while only losing Callahan, Beeks, Egan, and Janik. So I'll lose an aging LF, two middle relievers, and a one-star starting pitcher.
Again tied? How is it possible for us to be tied for two straight months?
ReplyDeleteUmm...I uploaded. Hmm. Did it not take?

Also, I'd be in favor of having the next sim go to 7/30, so that we have one more sim for trading. But not a big deal.
ReplyDeleteI haven't had a chance to download the league file yet, and might not until Saturday morning; Who's new to the DL for Los Angeles this sim?

I can live with that.
